Description:
The djembe
drum originates in the Ivory Coast, where it is often used
in traditional ceremonies and voodoo rituals. In the Ewe language,
megavo oh means "do not be afraid," representing the local
power of this work by Ralph Agudze. Agudze comments: "I will
say, fear can take a lot treasures from a person." The body
is carved from sturdy and resonant tweneboa wood, adorned
with mesmerizing rings of black. Agudze stretches goatskin
across the top, as iron rod rings keep the drumhead taut.
The rings are wrapped in cotton cloth to prevent rusting.
A resonant addition to any home décor.
