A drum of mystical origin, the tinya is exclusive to spiritual
rituals celebrated in the Andean highlands. Known also as wankara
or wankar, this drum once marked the beat of battle for Chankas
and Pokras warriors. Dionisio Quilla hand-crafts this traditional
instrument from wood with a cowhide drumhead. The drum is embellished
with a cotton and nylon strap imbued with pre-Hispanic colors.
Includes a tornillo wood drumstick with a cowhide head.
