Description:
The djembe drum
is originally from Benin, where it has traditionally been used
during voodoo rituals. However, its popular rhythm has spread
throughout West Africa and the world. Bomukasa Limited presents
this fine example, hewn from the resonant luxury of tweneboah
wood. The recognizable contours have been adorned in colorfully
crosshatched kente cloth, while undulating geometry encircles
the base. The artisans equip the instrument with a goatskin-striking
surface, held firmly in place by iron rod rings wrapped in cotton
to prevent rusting. Nylon cords weave and stretch along the
body, ensuring the ability to accurately tune the drum. Finished
in mansion polish to smooth the wood's natural texture.
